Can You Join a Boston Pub Crawl Solo? One Ticket, Plenty to Talk About
Traveling alone gives you the freedom to set your own Boston itinerary; deciding how social you want the evening to be is part of the fun. You can join Boston Crawling’s Independence Pub Crawl, with one booking wrinkle: each departure needs its first two-ticket booking before single tickets become available. If your preferred time does not show a single ticket, try another departure or contact us.
That booking detail matters because traveling alone gives you considerable freedom over your day. You can spend the morning following whatever catches your attention, then join a guided group for history, local bars and some fresh conversation. Your itinerary gets to be sociable on your terms.
Start with the single-ticket question
Our contact page explains the solo-booking process. The first purchase for each tour requires at least two tickets. Once someone makes that booking, individual tickets can be purchased for that departure.
Look for departures showing the number of tickets remaining, which indicates existing bookings. If your first choice does not offer a single ticket, try another time that works for your plans. If you still need help, send your preferred dates and times through the contact form.
That message lets us know which crawl you want to join so we can respond when solo tickets become available. It is an availability request, so wait for an actual booking confirmation before treating the place as reserved. A little clarity here makes the rest of your vacation wonderfully straightforward.
Know the shape of the experience
The crawl is an adults-only history tour pub crawl around Faneuil Hall and the Freedom Trail. An expert local guide shares hidden and hilarious colonial stories while fellow travelers visit four bars together. Walking covers a few blocks, and the exact venues vary by departure.
It runs daily at 3:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m., with an additional 12:00 p.m. start on Saturdays and Sundays. Allow 2 hours and 15 minutes for the experience. Guests must be 21 or older and bring proper identification.
Drinks are purchased separately, and buying alcohol is optional. Nonalcoholic choices are available at the bars. You can choose what to order at each stop while the guide keeps the history moving. We provide the colorful colonial characters; you decide how much color belongs in your glass.
The social part grows out of the shared activity. Everyone has the same story to react to and the next stop to discuss. Come ready to listen, ask a question or enjoy a conversation, with plenty of room for your own style of participation.
Pick a departure that fits your day
Use your solo-travel superpower: the final vote is yours. An afternoon crawl leaves the evening open for dinner, a performance or another neighborhood. The evening departure gives you daylight for museums and sightseeing before joining the group.
Weekend travelers can also choose the midday start, subject to available single tickets. Consider your meal timing alongside your booking. Food ordering is not part of the standard public crawl, so eat beforehand and leave room afterward for whatever dinner looks good to you.
If you enjoy historic sites, our guide to experiencing Boston history as an adult helps you choose a manageable sightseeing plan. Pick one portion of the city and give it your attention. An afternoon feels satisfyingly full when you have time to notice what you came to see.
Make the meeting spot easy to find
The crawl begins at the Samuel Adams statue on the Congress Street side of Faneuil Hall, at 6 Faneuil Hall Square. Look for your guide holding the Boston Crawling sign with our crawling baby logo. Arrive with a little time to spare so checking in feels like the start of your outing.
State Street and Government Center are nearby MBTA options. Check your route before leaving, particularly if you are connecting from another neighborhood. Save the meeting details on your phone and glance at a map while you still have a comfortable place to stand.
Bring valid ID showing you are 21 or older. International guests should bring their passport, as some bars require it. Comfortable shoes and a layer suited to the weather round out the packing list. The Boston Crawling FAQ covers the remaining practical details.
Leave yourself an easy landing afterward
The crawl finishes within two blocks of its meeting point, which helps with planning your next move. Decide before you start how you will get back to your accommodation. Then you can enjoy the final stop with your evening’s logistics already sorted.
You can also leave dinner flexible if that suits your travel style. Keep a couple of nearby possibilities in mind, check their current opening hours and follow your appetite. Solo dining grants you full authority over the order, including whether dessert counts as a separate activity.
